Modern techniques such as computerized x-ray mapping can now be used to determine the most harmonious jaw and teeth position. Orthotic appliances or splints are then created to test the improved occlusion (bite). When the patient is comfortable in the new jaw position, permanent esthetic ceramic additions are made. These are then bonded to the existing teeth for cosmetic and functional improvement.
